Oh hello! We are Stef and Chad from Touring Tastebuds! We are super excited to share with you the 5 things we’ve learned while traveling, but first a little background.

Where it all started
At the beginning of this year, we bought a 1977 Airstream Argosy with orange shag carpet and rotted subfloor. You can see what it looked like here. Fast forward a few months and we had totally renovated the inside to meet our needs for full-time RV living! You can check out our renovation process on our YouTube channel! We took off in June for a massive west coast road trip and just got done a few weeks ago! We visited 17 states, went to 10 National Parks and experienced so much in between!
To say this trip (and our past travels) taught us a lot would be a massive understatement! We have learned so much over the last few months, so here is our list of the top 5 things we have learned while traveling full time!
Go with the flow!
We were reminded of this one over and over again. When things go wrong, adjust. When your plans change unexpectedly, breathe. When reality doesn’t meet your expectations, enjoy! It won’t all be perfect, but it will all bring growth, so soak it all in! And PIVOT! (I’m hoping you’ve all seen the episode of Friends where Ross yells this in the staircase.)
Enjoy the present and don’t rush it
It’s so easy to be somewhere and instantly wish you were somewhere else or instantly count down to the next move. But don’t do it! Be present at the moment in the place you’re in! You’re only in these moments once, so try your hardest to really stay there mentally. Admire your surroundings, interact with those around you and really digest all that’s going on and all you’re seeing! Remember every moment is a once in a lifetime moment!
Be a local!
Really submerge yourself in the culture and location you’re in! Eat the local restaurant, not the chain restaurant. Do more than just tourist attractions. Talk to people who live there. You get such a deeper sense of a place if you seek out the local experiences!
Your problems are small
Go stand at the Grand Canyon or some other breathtaking place and you’ll completely forget about the bill you have to pay or that you don’t have cell service. There is so much going on in this world outside of our own personal bubbles, and we should really gain that perspective! Seeing new places can really remind you how small you are in this massive world and it’s honestly such a freeing feeling!
Travel More!
The most important thing we’ve learned while traveling is to never stop. There is so much to see, so much to learn and so many people to meet that none of us should ever stop traveling! Traveling brings experiences and perspective that you could never get otherwise and it’s so VALUABLE!
Thanks so much to Divert Living for sharing our top 5 things we’ve learned! Make sure you go check out their top 5 lessons over on our blog!
