TOP Ximending Food You MUST TRY

February 1, 2020 By Jimmy Huss

The city of Taipei is indeed one of those cities in Asia which remains high on demand because of their unique and amazing food culture. Your trip to Taiwan would not be completed if you didn’t explore and relished the delectable Taiwanese cuisine. The city has culinary treasures that can be found in the humble shops in the city, especially if we talk about Ximending Food. Talking about Ximending, well, the area is dotted with tons of street food stalls and restaurants where you can savor the taste of some of the best Taiwanese delicacies in Taipei. Therefore in this post, I have covered some of the best and must-have food in the Ximending region. So, sit back, relax, and be ready to go on a virtual food tour in Ximending, Taiwan.

 Ximending Food

Table of Contents

Dou Jiang You Tiao

For Ximending breakfast, Dou Jiang You Tiao is the perfect delight to enjoy in the Ximending region. Dough fritter with soya bean is one of the most popular eats in Taipei which is relished during the breakfast time. However, the dish is high on oil so, try it only if you are not fitness conscious. But, a small portion is indeed not bad for health – at least that’s what I believe. Yong He Soy Milk is the best Ximending restaurant that serves the best Dou Jian You Tiao.

Lu Rou Fan

If you are looking for a dish that goes perfect for your brunch, then it has to be Lu Rou Fan which is braised pork with rice. The dish looks simple but it tastes delectably good. The aromatic braised pork is topped with rice in a bowl. Lu Ron Fan also tastes good with stir-fried vegetables. However, you can also eat it without vegetables. In the Ximending shopping district, there are many shops selling Lu Rou Fan, however, I would recommend you get transportation and you visit Tiantianli.

Beef Noodles

Who doesn’t love beef noodles? If you are a meat lover, then beef noodle is one thing which I am sure you can have any time of the day. It is one of the most-loved delicacies in Taiwan. Such is the hype of this dish in Taipei that you can also find a cup version of Beef Noodle in the city. The braised broth served in this dish can jolt your taste bust awake. The pieces of beef shank beautifully soaked in the broth is another key highlight of this dish. However, the fresh bowl is something else that is unbeatable in taste. In Ximending, you can find many shops selling beef noodles.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN TAIWAN

Grilled Mochi

It would be unfair if I do not include Grilled Mochi on the list of what to eat in Ximending. Though it is a snack dish, yet it deserves all the praise and a mention in this post because of its delectable taste. I am assuming you must be wondering what is Mochi? Well, it is rice cakes that are grilled to perfection and are served on sticks. The snacks are then topped with various things like cheese, sesame paste, peanuts, and even sugar powder. You can imagine the taste where first your teeth will enjoy the crispy interior and then fluffy gooey mochi will satiate your tastebuds.

Recommended Place to Eat

BBQ Mochi

No. 49, Emei St, Wanhua District, Taipei City, Taiwan 108

Oyster Omelette

Another sought-after dish in Ximending, Taipei is Oyster Omelette. This is a dish that is most often served in the night markets of Taipei. Hence, you can expect to find it in the Ximen night market in Ximending. Omelet might seem an ordinary dish to you, but the one in Taipei not at all an ordinary one. It tastes delectably delicious. In Ximending, you can see vendors frying these up in open-air stalls using local Oyster eggs. The egg mixture used in preparing the dish is mixed with starch which gives omelet a thick consistency. Pork lard is also used to give the omelet a richer taste. Once it is prepared, it is then served with sauce. Depending on the vendor, you will get a sweet or spicy sauce with Oyster Omelette in Taipei. Its some of the best Ximending night market food.

To give the final touch, the cubes are given the flame to give the charred look through blow torch.
