Some few km south-east of Da Nang, there is yet another beautiful city, Hoi An, to visit in Vietnam. You would be amazed to know that despite being two different cities, both Da Nang and Hoi An are just located at a distance of hardly an hour. Since Da Nang to Hoi An is one of the most common routes, here in this post, I have included all the ways to get there so you are fully prepared for your trip.

Distance Between Da Nang to Hoi An
The shortest route between Da Nang and Hoi An has a total distance of around 30 km. However, the travel time from Da Nang to Hoi An completely depends on your mode of transportation. If you are traveling by car then you are more likely to cover the distance 45-55 minutes. However, if you are traveling by bus from Da Nang to Hoi An then the entire journey could take up to 2-3 hours to complete.
Getting From Danang to Hoi An
In total, there are mainly four means of transportation that facilitate Da Nang to Hoi An transfer. Out of all, you can choose the apt one according to your preference and choice.
Motorbike
Let’s start the list with the most underrated means of transportation from Da Nang to Hoi An. Not many people prefer to travel via motorbike in order to travel from one part to another in any new destination. But, that’s not the case here! Motorbike is one of the most popular and exciting options not just amongst locals but also tourists traveling from Da Nang to Hoi An. The best thing about traveling by motorbike is that it gives you the flexibility to stop en route and visit the attractions lie along the way.
However, I won’t recommend this option for all of you. Only those who have great skills in riding a motorbike can make the most of this option. The traffic in Vietnam is quite challenging for the riders and is also different from traffic in other countries, mainly from European nations or the Americas.
If you are considering motorbike as your ideal way of getting from Da Nang to Hoi An, then you would be happy to know that bike rentals in Vietnam are quite cheap. You can expect to pay anything around VND 30000 per day. Discounts are also available for longer-term rental. However, for a longer-term, you will be asked to leave some form your ID behind which you will get back once safely return the motorbike. We don’t suggest doing this and highly suggest you convince them to take a photocopy instead. This is what we did.
Bus From Da Nang to Hoi An
To boost tourism in the region, the government has organized the direct bus service to travel from Da Nang to Hoi An. It is the cheapest option to reach Hoi An. Bus number 1 commutes between the two cities and the ticket cost you around VND 30000. However, it takes a bit longer than other means of traveling from Da Nang to Hoi An. The bus service starts at 5:30 in the morning and the last bus leaves at 6 in the evening. The frequency between one bus to the next is around 20 minutes. You can ask a local about the nearest bus stop from your location or can take help from Google Maps. Do not worry about the ticket as you can easily purchase after hopping on the bus.
For those traveling from Da Nang airport, it is the least convenient way to visit Hoi An as the nearest bus stop from the airhead is somewhere 3 km away. However, if you are coming from the train, there is a bus stop at 162 Ong Ich Khiem, which is hardly 10 minutes walk away from the railway station.
Da Nang to Hoi An Taxi
If you want to travel from Da Nang to Hoi An fast and conveniently, then the taxi is the best option. This is one of the most common means to reach Da Nang not just amongst locals but tourists as well. Even if you are traveling from Da Nang airport to Hoi An, this is the best way to reach the city. The best thing is you don’t have to make a prior booking to catch a taxi. Instead, you can find taxis either from the airport or from the city center. A drive through taxi to Hoi An would take around 40-50 minutes and the ride would cost you somewhere between 348000 VND and 534000.
However, it is important to make sure that you communicate well to your driver about the destination you want to reach. Some drivers may not be very familiar with directions and could end up driving you on the wrong routes. From the airport, there is also the option of a shared Taxi, Dichungtaxi. You can book a shared taxi from their official site and the driver will pick you up. Grab is also an option for you if you want airport transfer Danang to Hoi An and this is the one we suggest the most. This will give you a fair price and duration prior to getting in the car.
Private car Danang to Hoi An
You can also rent a private car if you are ready and want to drive from Da Nang to Hoi An. This means it is comfortable, convenient as well as fast. And the best thing is you can stop anywhere either for a break or to explore an attraction on the way. You can ask your hotel to arrange a car rental for you. The price of the car could range anywhere between 300000 VND and 400000 VND. The rent also depends on the fact, whether you are hiring 5-seater or 7-seater.
