Where to stay in Lima Peru

While visiting all the top lima beaches you need to know that it takes more than one day. The city offers some amazing places to stay, from high-end hotels to budget accommodations. No matter what your budget is and you are looking for you can find where to stay in Lima and in the safest areas.

Miraflores beach

If you have heard or read about Miraflores, then you must have this idea that it is one of the high-end areas in the city of Lima. It is not even known as the tropical paradise in Lima because of the fact that it is an upscale shopping district. But this doesn’t mean that the Miraflores beach, known as The City Beach, is not worth a visit. Located centrally in the city of Peru, the beach is surrounded by the high-rise apartment blocks located on the edge of a cliff. The view of these apartment blocks along with the beach is worth capturing, especially from the drone camera.

Lima Beach

The City Beach in Miraflores, Lima offers stunning views of the ocean and nature. It is one of those popular spots in Lima where pro surfers can show off their skills and the amateur ones can look to learn some basics and enjoy the experience of surfing. Not just this, it is also a popular hideout in Lima for paragliders. If you have no desire in indulging in any sort of adventure sports, worry not. The place is also something to make you leave awestruck. The beachside boardwalk is there where you can take a walk. Along with that, there are also some local restaurants offering great Peruvian delicacies. Surely, you will want to fix a day to enjoy lunch here at The City Beach in Miraflores.

Cabo Blanco Beach

Cabo Blanco is a quaint fishing village in the city of Lima. You need to know the village is known for its beach which is a popular tourist spot in Lima. This is also the place where the internationally acclaimed novelist, Ernest Hemingway was inspired to create his famous work – The Old Man and the Sea. Today, it is considered as one of the best beaches in Lima for tourists. Not just tourists, but you can also see a number of locals who come here in the hunt for huge fish. The waves of this beach are ideal for surfers, but not the beginner ones. It is because the waves here are pretty big and furious. The famous wave, ‘Peruvian Pipe’ is indeed a challenge in the ocean water here at this beach. If you are not a pro surfer, it is best you enjoy this wave by standing on the shore side. The beach also has soft sands that are beautifully adorned with rocks that can be seen in the ocean water as reflections.

Cerro Azul Beach

Cerro Azul is one of the best beaches near Lima. It is located in the south at a distance of some 90 miles from the downtown of Lima. The beach is a popular surf spot around the city of Lima. They take surfers all the way up against a pier. Here at this pier, you can expect to see locals indulging in fishing activity. Along with that, there is also a beach that is crescent-shaped. At this beach location, you can also see stalls and shack’s selling fresh fishes, snacks, and cold beers. The town in which the beach is located holds a beautiful charm and vibe of being a small-town. It can be imagined with the fact that there are no ATM services in the town. In order to avail one, you have to take a bus to Canete which is located at a distance of around 15 minutes from the town.

Lima Beach

Las Pocitas Beach

There are so many gorgeous beaches in Lima, Peru and Las Pocitas is one of them. Such is the compelling charm of this beach that it should be somewhere on the top of your best beaches in Lima list. Wondering why this place has such a huge hype? Well, it is because it has golden white sand with turquoise water. There are also little pools that are perfect for children to explore as small marine ecosystems. Unlike the above-mentioned beaches, Las Pocitas is not one of those beaches where you will see a lot of surfers. Rather it is a place good for some downtime with friends and family. Bring your snacks, beverage or a book to enjoy your time at Las Pocitas.

What To Expect – Lima Peru

Playa Roja Beach

Also known as the Red Beach, Playa Roja is one of the most picturesque beach locations in the city of Lima. The beach gets its name, Red Beach, because of the color of the sand built as a result of erosion of ancient and solidified lava. The lava compliments exceptionally well with the beauty of the sea. When you visit this place, it is not like any ordinary beach. I mean, at other beach locations, you will get to savor the sights of ocean water, golden sand, palm trees, and the abundance of nature. But, this is not the case here at this beach. For a fact, visiting Playa Roja is one of the best things to do in Lima.

In the beach vicinity, you can also expect to see rich wildlife. The area is also surrounded by the surreal beauty of Paracas National Reserve. The beach aims to preserve and protect the rich marine life in the region. If you think that is it, well, wait! The best part is yet not talked about. The beauty of the beach blooms up when the sun starts to fall asleep. During the sunset time, do not forget to capture the stunning view where the sand lights up as the last rays of sun fall on it and the tropical beauty of the place blooms up.  It is indeed an experience in itself!

Playa de la Mina Beach

Playa de la Mina beach is located in the town of Paracas, some 2-3 hour’s drive away from the city of Lima. It is also counted amongst the list of best beaches near Lima. The beach is all worth your effort because of the stunning views it offers and the turquoise waters of the ocean which is all ideal to enjoy swimming. In the summer season, the beach becomes a popular tourist destination amongst tourists. But you can spend time here all along. The beach offers an opportunity to camp overnight for a thrilling and adventurous experience. This is the perfect time to adore the beauty of this place alone once all the crowd has gone. Stargazing on the beachside with the soft gushing sound of the ocean waters is indeed a once in a lifetime experience to relish. Not just this, the next day (early in the morning), you can also expect to see fishermen doing their chores. Once they are done fishing, you can also see sea lions and pelicans with them.

Waikiki Beach

Waikiki Beach is another popular beach destination. Visiting Waikiki Beach is one of the best things to do in Miraflores. It is famous to offer dazzling views to gaze upon, surreal ambiance to dive in, and amazing surfing opportunities to experience a thrill. Waikiki Beach in Lima along the coast of Miraflores is often renowned as a popular tourist spot amongst tourists to adore the sunset views. But, I would suggest you be observant as you can even get a chance to see the playful dolphins whooshing out of the water like it is some kind of dance for them. Also, we cannot forget the surfers. This is quite a popular spot in Lima for surfing. So, if you have got some skills, feel free to show them off in the waters. But when you are a pro. If not, then there are a number of surfing schools. They will help you build some skill of surfing at a fee of 50-100 Soles for about a two-hour lesson.

Huanchaco Beach

Huanchaco is one of the most sought-after beach locations near Lima. Located in the district of Huanchaco, the beach is not as close as Playa de la Mina and Cerro Azul, but it is all worth it considering the popularity of this beach. If you are an avid surfer, then this place becomes a not to miss for you on your beach tour in and around Lima. Want to know the reason? Well, it’s because the beach was acclaimed as the World Surfing Reserve Site back in 2012. This is the reason it lures heavy crowds of surfers from far and wide. Not just this, it also has a laid-back vibe which is ideal for all those who just prefer to gaze upon the beauty of the beach. Huanchaco beach has close proximity to the famous ancient ruins of Chan Chan which is known as one of the pre-Colombia largest cities.

Lima Beach

This is just one side of Huanchaco lima beach. It is also a perfect spot to savor an ultimate and ultimate gastronomic experience. Here at this place, you can relish the taste of delectable Peruvian seafood. Just to let you know, Huanchaco beach is also known as the place where the famous seafood delicacy – ‘ceviche’ was invented. The town of Huanchaco was once the quaint settlement, but today, it has become a popular getaway from Lima mainly because of its beach.

Punta Hermosa Beach

Some 57 km south of Lima, there is another popular surf spot known as Punta Hermosa. The big waves here are perfect for all the pro surfers to indulge in a thrilling experience. But that’s not it! This lima beach is also known as a popular weekend getaway from and hence, a lot of tourists can be seen during these days here. They come here to spend some quality time with friends and family or just to gaze upon the surreal beauty of nature. Such is the charm of Punta Hermosa that it is also known as one of the most beautiful beaches near Lima. You can also choose to spend a day or two amidst nature as there are plenty of hotel options in Punta Hermosa. The accommodation here comes in every budget range, be it luxury, mid-range or cheap.

Pucusana Beach

Your Lima beaches in Peru tour is incomplete without a Pucusana. Wondering what’s so important about this beach destination? Well, it is actually the first real beach you will find outside of Lima. It witnesses consistent sun along with the actual beach sand. For a fact, it is one of the most popular tourist sites around the city of Lima. Pucusana is a small fishing village that is known for its pristine beach. Being a fishing village, here at Pucusana, you can find plenty of stalls and restaurants selling delicious fish dishes. Unlike those rocky beaches in Lima, Pucusana is known to have just sand and waters. If you are a tanner, this beach gives you the ultimate opportunity to indulge in your thing. On the whole, Pucusana is one of those beaches where you can expect to soak up the sun all throughout the day which you cannot find in the dense fog of Lima.

Well, there are plenty of beaches in Lima that offer surfing opportunities to tourists. So, according to your interest, you can choose the ones that you feel perfect for you. However, these beaches are also ideal to spend some quality time or to gaze upon the surreal beauty of nature. So, it is totally up to you which ones you are going to explore from the list.

Sometimes you have to look at things from a differ Sometimes you have to look at things from a different perspective in order to see what you hoped for. As you travel getting to locations early is a must for me, being able to capture places and people without having the mass crowds is hard if you aren’t an early bird. It took a little bit of waiting to get the right shots but it was well worth the wait 😍⁣

It all started with a culture shock, a feeling of It all started with a culture shock, a feeling of uncertainty, the feeling of something new. For me travel, all started in 2016 when I was first stationed in South Korea. I got off the plane at 11 PM and had no clue what to expect, what to eat, or how to get around or find my way. This was the turning point in my life. The point that forced me outside of my comfort zone, pushed me to be a better person and learn something new. ⁣

When I travel people ask me how I choose destinations. It used to be based on cost, where I could go that was cheapest, while still allowing me to step outside of my comfort zone.
