Sri Lanka is a country that gives you a mushroom of experiences of traveling to beaches, hills, forests, and cities. There are so many places to visit in Sri Lanka and Ella is one such place! Ella is a peaceful hill vacay place that you will need a few days to explore completely. This blog is about the places you must visit in Ella:

10 Must-visit places in Ella

Diyaluma Falls

Drive down south for an hour to reach Diyaluma Falls. This is said to be one of the highest waterfalls in Sri Lanka. Though the main waterfall is famous, there are so many mini waterfalls near this place that are worth going to. You will also find swimming spots here and there. You can hike for 2 hours to reach the top of the falls. 

Little Adam’s Peak

Little Adam’s Peak in Sri Lanka is among the most famous destinations in Ella. Trek up to the peak to get the best views ever. The whole trek will be done in 3 hours even if you stop over to relax for a few minutes. Do not miss to click some photos of the views in this place. The best time to climb the Little Adam’s peak is during the early morning or before the sun rises.

Ella Town Tour

Ella is a super cute and calm town. You can explore the town either by walk or by taking a tuk-tuk from one destination to the other. Get the sight of railway tracks and take photos of the old buildings on the street. Relax by reading and sipping some tea in cafes like Cafe Guru, Art Cafe, etc. You can also choose to go on food tours to ancient restaurants in Ella to get the best flavors in its authentic form! 

Ella Tea Factory Visit

Ella is famous for its lush green tea factories. The Sri Lankan Tea is well- known across the globe. Take some time to visit a tea factory in Ella to learn about how it is grown and processed. Tea tasting tours are also available in some tea factories. You will find some of the finest tea brands in Ella. Carry the tea lover inside you to a tea factory visit in Ella for a cherishing memory.

Ravana Waterfalls

Ravana waterfall is something that will mandatorily be in any checklist of places to visit in Ella. Just a 10-minute drive from the city side of Ella, you find this mesmerizing waterfall. Fall in love with Ravana waterfall and explore the scenic views around the falls. Be it with family, friends or as a couple, Ravana waterfalls is super- suitable. If you find small tents nearby, they are actually souvenir vendors and food stalls. Grab some snacks and chill by the Ravana waterfalls in Ella.

Ella Rock

Are you backpacking Sri Lanka and want to go on a hike or trek? Then Ella Rock is for you! This is one place hikers crave to come in Ella. To climb to the top of the hill, it takes about two hours. Take that extra effort and we bet the views from the top are outstanding. Carry your water bottles, lace up the perfect shoes and wear comfy clothes. Ravana Cave

Ravana cave is an interesting place to the list. Just about two kilometers from the city center of Ella is this historical Ravana cave. With a width of 50 ft and length of 60 ft, this cave is where Princess Sita was hidden by King Ravana (Characters of the Hindu epic Ramayana). Historians say that there is a tunnel in Ravana cave that connects to the Dowa rock temple in Bandarawela. There is also a human skull present here that dates back to 20,000 BC. You need to climb up a cliff to reach the cave. Don’t miss one of the most historical places in Ella.

Porawagala

Porawagala is not exactly in Ella but in the Bandarawela region which is located close to Ella. The beautiful views of this place are way beyond what you can imagine. If you are in Ella, don’t miss out on Porawagala as it tops the list of places to visit in Sri Lanka. This place pleases you to the utmost, even beyond what you see in England’s Lake District. 

Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya is also known as the Mini London. There are so many scenic places to visit in Nuwara Eliya. You need to stay in this town for a while to see everything there. Here is a list of top places you must go in Nuwara Eliya:

You need to book in advance to take up cooking classes. You will have memories to carry for a lifetime in this cute spice garden.

This was the first time in a long time I have just spend days exploring for fun, recording for fun, and shooting for fun. The feeling of not being stressed, not getting all the shots, sleeping in, and leaving my phone in my bag.⁣
