Whether you have 2 weeks or a month in Sri Lanka Mini Adams Peak and elephants are by far some of the main attractions on most peoples’ Sri Lanka itinerary. With sunrise and sunset being the best time to make the climb we would personally recommend sunrise. We had the chance to see one of the best sunrises we have ever seen with only a few people around. Hotels Near Adams Peak
Before we give you any suggestions, let me start out by saying most of the time when looking for a hotel in Asia you always want an Airconditioner. With Adams peak accommodation this isn’t the case and we learned that the hard way. We are generally looking for the best Hotels with AC for the most affordable price. Well in Ella that is hard to find and limit you to about only four properties at this time of year (February-March). Most of the properties for a decent price ($45 USD and under per night) were fan rooms only. Anything with AC and good ratings tends to be over that. We found out shortly after arriving why so many properties didn’t have AC. That’s mainly because it tends to be a very cool and relaxing temperature when you are this high in the mountains. Below are our top suggestions for hotels near Adams Peak with airconditioned and fan rooms.
Fan hotel near Adams Peak
Hotel City Grand Ella: This hotel has amazing ratings on not only room and service but food as well. We stayed right next to here and the view is incredible. With this being only a fan room it really comes at an affordable price of only $18 a night.

Air-conditioned hotel near Adams Peak
Ella Master Point Luxury Cottage: This is one of the best places we looked at out of all Adams peak accommodation. Its a full suite style room with everything you need including an amazing view, great breakfast, and great design. It’s more than big enough for two people to stay comfortably for as long as you will need. This place Has a nightly rate of $50 USD and is a great option if you don’t mind spending a little extra.

Ella Hiking
Hiking in Ella can be moderate or advanced depending on what hike you choose to do. If you choose to go to Mini Adams’s peak it’s fairly easy and will only take around an hour and a half if you are walking from Ella Center. Most choose to take a Tuk-tuk to the base of the hike and then start your climb. This will cut about 30 minutes off the total hike. If you are up for it and have more experience or are in good shape I suggest Adams peak hike. We have never done this but I hear its a lot harder and takes a lot longer than little Adam.

Best time of the year to visit Ella Sri Lanka
The best time of the year to visit Ella Sri Lanka from January until May. This is when the days are warm the nights are cool and you are least likely to get rained on. The problem is you are approximately 1,041 meters (3,415 ft) above sea level. At this high, the weather can be completely different from down at the base of the mountain. This brings us to our next point.
Best time to hike Little Adams Peak
The best time to hike is either sunrise or sunset. They both have pros and cons. Like we just talked about it can get pretty hot during the day so this can cause it to also take a little longer to get up if you are hiking it midday or you can get crowds for sunset. We personally loved it at sunrise. We would highly suggest the sunrise hike if you are ok with waking up early. Hiking little Adam at this time allows you to have the highest chance of avoiding all the crowds. Unfortunately, this does come with some downsides as well. When hiking in the morning you have the chance of it being foggy and not really being able to see anything. Fortunately enough we had a clear day when we went and were rewarded with the most beautiful sunrise.
