How to Get Around in Singapore

When it comes to how to get around in Singapore, it is pretty easy for tourists because of the amazing public transportation network. Since Singapore is a small island nation, you can even walk from one place to another. The transport system is fast and effective in Singapore. One of the reasons for that is the extensive and systematic networks of roads that make any journey easy. In total, there are 4 transportation options in Singapore. These are:

  • MRT

MRT is the prime means of traveling within Singapore for both locals and tourists. In total, there are five MRT lines to get you to all these must see in Singapore in 2 days attractions. The East-West (green) Line, The Circle (Orange) Line, North-South (red) Line, North-East (purple) Line, and the Downtown (Blue) Line. It covers almost every part of Singapore and makes it easy and affordable for people to travel from one place to another in Singapore.

Cost of MRT in Singapore

The fare of MRT ranges from SGD 0.78 to SGD 2.03 and the trains operate from 5:30 in the morning to 12:00 AM.

The next best and most preferred way of traveling within Singapore is public buses. It also has a vast and efficient network. Whether you are a first-time visitor or have visited earlier as well, buses are a highly-recommended transport means in Singapore. The fare of a bus ride in Singapore depends on the total distance of your ride.

Cost of the Bus in Singapore

You can expect the bus fare to be ranging from SGD 0.79 to SGD 2.07.

  • Singapore Taxis

Taxis are one of the most convenient means of transportation in Singapore. If you are in a group, then it is the best way to travel within Singapore. Besides, it is evident that you have to pay more in case of taxis. You can catch a taxi from a taxi stand, mall, hotel, or anywhere in the streets.

Talking about the basic fare, it could range between SGD 3.6 and 3.9. Thereafter, the amount ranges from SGD 0.55 to SGD 0.94 will be charged per kilometer.

  • River Taxis

People often prefer to travel with the river taxis in Singapore. There are five stations in total – Clemenceau, Robertson Quay, Boat Quay, and Clarke Quay, and the Esplanade. A thing to know here is that the length of the route is short so do not expect the river taxi to take you from one corner of Singapore to another. Yet, river taxis can take you to the very-famous attractions like Esplanade Theatre, Raffles’ Landing Site, Merlion Park, Singapore Flyer, and Civilisation Museum.
